Busy Bee!

Hello! I hope everyone's weekend went well:) (Yes, I know it's Wednesday, but I stil like to think happily about the past weekend and look forward to the next!).

Speaking of which...Let's do a quick recap, shall we?! I just got off the phone with Miss C! The date auction this Friday at Gypsy Bar is all set..and there is such a buzz! It seems like everyone is going, and I couldn't be more excited! I need to think of what I'm going to wear! And of course, I'll be taking a ton of pictures and give you a behind-the-scenes tour before everyone arrives:)

This past weekend I picked up stuffed animals in Londonderry, NH on my way to Mack's Apples. Yum! I heart Macks. They have these delicious apple cider donuts, sweet apple cider and fabulous icecream....I am now officially hungry! It was nice to take a Sunday drive over, especially since it seems things are super-busy all the time:)

I'm particularly excited today because a posting to our company home page came out for the stuffed animal collection beginning next week! I'm really happy because my company's mission and goals are very much focused on first responders and military organizations. It's wonderful that everyone will be reaching out to support Project Smile:) All of these stuffed animals means that there are going to be tons of donations to local departments! Yay! I have to make a few more phone calls, but I'm really excited:)

It's lunch time..and all this talk about food has made me very hungry! I'm usually a big fan of the "Jeff" sandiwch, but they have a sandwich called the "Sammie" which looks yum too:) Oh the choices!!

Until later....ta-ta!

Keep Moving!

Hello! So things are still moving along, slowly but surely:) Some good news to report is that things are moving along for a stuffed animal drive at my work! They are very supportive of Project Smile's mission and I'm excited to have them involved. We have a few thousand employees in the NH area and our Community Relations department has been wonderful in helping to coordinate this activity.

I also got a call from a really cool Mom who is looking to donate. She had heard about us from another member of their local Mom's club, and contacted us to do a donation. I'm going to meet with her this weekend! It's always fun to meet new people:) She mentioned they might be interested in having a stuffed animal drive within their club - which would be awesome! I'll keep you posted.

Hmm...other things that are going on....I seem to be pretty busy these days! I love being busy, so it makes me quite happy actually:) I keep in touch with everything via my iPhone (yay Apple!). I have to keep working on our "Miles of Smiles" event next year - we're going to have a 5K! Yay! All the details aren't final, but we're shooting for sometime next year, early summer or fall. More to come:)

I'm going to be in Billerica, MA this weekend at the Yankee Doodle Homecoming weekend! It's a big fair/community event with a parade, activities, booths and more! I'll be there supporting my HS Alumni Association, but these events are always great to continue to spread the word about Project Smile!

I'm super excited about the Date Auction next week - I can't believe its almost here! Catherine & crew have been working super hard on it, and let me tell you - it is sooooooooo much fun! Gypsy Bar is an amazing venue and the show is packed with beautiful singles, fabulous guests, delicious food and drink and of course - incredible entertainment. It's a no-brainer!

Ok, well that's it for now! I had a very yummy sandwich for lunch - Seedling Cafe! They are a local sandwich shop that has really neat creations - lots of organic salad and wrap. Yum! I'm a big fan of local businesses and this one is just fabulous!

Until later....TTFN!

My first post! Yikes!

Hello! So I have been inspired by Miss Catherine (the lovely Exec. Dir of Project Smile) to create a blog to document the many wonderful activities involved with expanding a non-profit into new territory! I feel like Columbus:)

As with what Catherine does, I will post my experiences in supporting Project Smile and Catherine to continue growing and reaching out to bring more smiles each day:)

A little bit about me and how I got involved - back in 2005, on a very early and cold morning, I was on my way to go skiing sometime around 6a, and listening to the radio as usual. I happened to be listening to a local station, WJMN 94.5, during a segment where people in the community are interviewed about their organization and what's going on. Well I heard Catherine talking about how Project Smile got started and how the stuffed animals help the traumatized young kids - I was so on-board! I called Catherine later that day, and the rest is history I guess:)

After a few years of various involvement, whether it was promoting and attending different events or holding stuffed animals collections near my hometown of Tewksbury, MA - Catherine asked me to join the Board of Directors in 2009, where I have since increased my involvement and have been loving every minute of it.

The interesting thing about supporting Catherine and PS's mission - it that I get to share in the highs and lows, and I can truly say that the mission has touched my heart. I really look up to Catherine and admire all the hard work she puts in - she's so fabulous! And no, I am not a full-time PR guru, but snaps and bravo's to her and all of PS's AMAZING supporters for continuing the goal!

So what's next? Well my mission (should I choose to accept it - and I have!) is to help spread the word about Project Smile in the northern MA/NH region (and beyond!) NH is a really great state (it's where I currently live), and people are very supportive of their community! I'll be detailing everything and more that it takes to accomplish this mission!

Wish me good luck! I'll keep you posted (ha - get it? posted?)
